Michigan Family Travel is excited to share some wonderful products and shops for families to enjoy while traveling in Michigan. Michigan has a wonderful small business community and we try to share information to celebrate Michigan's thriving creators, makers, and dreamers.
So, in no particular order!
Literati Bookstore- Located in Ann Arbor. This wonderful, independent bookstore has a great selection of quality books. It's small and cozy, but young adult and teens readers will love it! They have regular author readings and a regular children's read aloud time on Saturday's. Please check out their website for more details.
Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier Shop- Located in Berkley. For over 65 years, the Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier Shop has been delighting children of all ages. Awesome!
MacKite- Located in Grand Haven. This hometown favorite features kites, beach games, board games, puzzles. If you are looking for fun at the beach or a great game or puzzle to do on a rainy day, MacKite will have something for you. The staff are knowledgable and fun and you will enjoy the experience!
Frankenmuth Toy Company and Kite Kraft- Located on 618 Main Street in downtown Frankenmuth. This store is a wonderful small toy store featuring lots of quality merchandise. Whether you are looking for a cool kite, a book, a family game, or a 1000 piece puzzle the Frankenmuth Toy Company is worth checking out!
Gift Shop at the Henry Ford Even if you don't have time for a full visit to the Henry Ford Museum or if you are looking for that perfect Michigan themed gift for a loved one, check out the gift shop at the Henry Ford. It includes items from local artists, cool toys for the young innovator, food items, shirts and housewares and stunningly gorgeous pottery and glass created by the artisans of Greenfield Village. We always enjoy spending time at the Gift Shop.
Heart of Michigan- Located in Howell, Michigan. This charming store features an assortment of Michigan themed products such as shirts, postcards, and other housewares. Family members are likely to enjoy their candy selection, ice cream and delicious pasties.
REI- Located in Troy and Northville. If your family has a taste for upscale outdoor merchandise, then REI Co-Op is for you! We love browsing and dreaming at this store. Check out their garage sales and returned shoes area for great deals.
