Michigan Family Fun in February
/Winter is such a wonderful time of year in Michigan, and although this winter has been milder than we would like, it is still great to get outdoors and enjoy our natural wonderland!
So, in no particular order, here are some wonderful ways to get out of the house and enjoy our natural and cultural gems!
Tahquamenon Falls State Park Guided Snowshoe Hike. Every Saturday in February! Click here for more information and details. There are a limited number of shoes available to borrow.
Family Game Day at the Outdoor Adventure Center. If you are in the Metro Detroit area on February 26th, stop into the wonderful DNR Outdoor Adventure Center for family games. Be sure to go for a stroll on the River Walk!
Sleigh Day 2017 The St. Clair County Farm Museum is having free horse drawn sleigh rides on February 18, from 11-3pm. Click here for more details.
Family Warm Up The UP Children's Museum is hosting a family activity night February 17th from 5-7 to kick off the Michigan 200 Dog Sled Race. A great way to start off an exciting weekend!
Taste of Soul Sunday The Main Branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library is hosting a wonderful celebration for African American History Month February 19th. The event features live music such as Glenda Williams and Kathy Lamar, as well as children's crafts and activities.
Bichini Bia Congo Dance Troupe The Redford Township Public Library is hosting this free African dance troupe at 11am on February 18th. This will include dance, song and I am sure some audience participation. Registration is required.
The Wright Museum in Detroit is featuring Detroit Black History on Saturday February 18th at 11am. This is part of their Family Activity Pass series and will focus on the rich, cultural legacies of famous African-American neighborhoods such as Paradise Valley. They claim,"Whether art, music,dance, acting or more, you and your children are sure to have a good time."
Mount Pleasant Michigan is hosting the Winter Kids Expo on February 11th from 1-3 at the CMU FInch Fieldhouse. This chance for kids to engage in recreational activities on a college campus is sure to help cure your winter blahs! Nothing like a good dose of running around to brighten the mood a bit!
